I have the pin, but I don’t know how to put it back in place. And I’m not buying another cheap replacement, that’s what this one is.

well, the complete repair guide for this laptop is in my videos…… Everything from taking it apart to repairing the dc jack.

I have never taken one apart, but it should be pretty easy if you can find the missing pin inside. If you can, look on ebay or amazon for a cheap replacement before you try to repair yours.

WTF? I am not interested to hear what you did before. I want to know how to fix this one.

Do you know how to fix a laptop charger? My pin broke in the charger. I took it apart and the pin actually fell out, but I can’t figure out how to put it back in place and make the charger function, I can’t tell if I’m missing a piece or what, ’cause there’s no pictures or anything online about the actual charger :(

Thank you for posting this video! It was very helpful. I used this along with the videos on how to take the computer apart, and I was able to do the repair in a couple of hours. You should have seen the look on my wife’s face when she saw this thing in pieces on the dining room table. I got it all put together and it works fine. I also found that one of the screws that holds on the display was broken and the other three screws were loose. Now the wiggly display is fixed too!

Its DDR1……kinda sucks that DDR1 costs more than DDR2 now. 1gb of DDR1 is about $40, while you can get a 1gb-2gb stick of DDR2 for about $20.

The hp pavilion dv1000 is basically the 14.1″ version of this 15.4″ laptop, so it should be very similar to work on. The problem happens when the stem inside of the ac connector gets loose and looses connection. the power led/ storm sign is flashing because the battery is not charged due to the bad ac adapter and there is not enough power to start the pc. Its very easy to repair with some soldier or you could look around the web for the part…….(This part can be seen at 4:25 in this video).

Nice vid. I need help I have a hp pavilion 1000 , when I plug the ac and press the start button I see the power button and quick buttons flash one time, and nothing happens, if I keep pressing firmly the start buttons the led flash 3 times on the storm sign or storm drawed that I thing is where show the ac power, on the front of the laptop, If you know what could be the problem please let me know, the lcd is working well I tested.
